VERBAL

In short, the changes are not minimal, but they are not radical, either. Each Verbal chapter contains 30-45% new practice problems, with the most new problems available in Sentence Correction. There are also some subtle, but noticeable, differences in emphasis. For instance, in Reading Comprehension, the rare Roman Numeral question type has been eliminated in the new OG. (Check out RC sample problem 113 in the 11th ed. for an example of this question type.) We don’t know for sure if this means that the GMAT will no longer show Roman Numeral questions, but it does suggest that they may appear less frequently.

More importantly, the Critical Reasoning section is different in two notable ways. First, gone are all Critical Reasoning practice questions in which two or three questions follow a single prompt (check out CR problems 60-61 in 11th ed. for an example of these paired questions). These "prompt siblings" have been replaced with a question sub-type in which an argument is presented, two statements are put in boldface, and the question asks the test-taker to identify the roles of the statements in bold. This is a positive change; these questions have appeared in the official GMATPrep tests, without any analogue in the old OG, for some time. Hopefully, the new CR section will make for more authentic practice.

几天前去香港，在PageOne和商务印书馆都有的卖，原版的，其中一本320HKD，另两本每本也要100+HKD，没买。今天刚问得深圳也有的卖，非正版，148RMB每套，准备下班去看看，在福田医院嘉汇新城，具体地址：

今天终于买到了 OG11（武汉）今天下午在武汉新东方（武昌总部）门口与小贩商量购买OG11，一共三本，没有光碟，印刷很清楚，但是价格较高，开价130还不还价，愤怒了，于是找另一卖家，终以100元拿下

 

 

在北美买OG11的朋友一点建议。上个星期老公在AMAZON给我买了OG11（两本：verbal and review)一共40多美金，但是第一次在那买东西，给30多的打折，所以就只花了11刀，邮费不花钱。今天收到了，属绝对原版。很经济。建议没在亚马逊买东西的朋友在那买，比MBA便宜。

OG 12th Edition刚刚拿到OG12版，感觉变化不大，前105 页几乎一样。

比11版多了8页，大概是因为一些题（和11版重复的题，主要是VERBAL部分）的解释多了一两行

目前只对了RC部分，一共24篇阅读，16篇从11版来，还有3篇从GWD来，估计其它5篇也能从GWD找到（小弟GWD还没全部做完），如果发现会继续UPDATE。所以GWD真是好东东。

还没时间看CR和SC，但估计重复的比例也差不多， 16/24=67%

so far, I haven't seen any "Insights into the GMAT exam that debunk test-taking myths" and don't think will find any.

先把阅读部分的题目对号入座下，其它部分会继续UPDATE（惭愧，SC只做了一遍，这大概是为什么，大全做了两遍，还是有30%的错误率 CRYING~~~）

SC: 目前看到和11版一样的只有52到题，一共140道， 有些题貌似在GWD里, 解释部分，没有大的出入，有个别题，多两至三行的解释。

如果有其他XDJM看到，请继续UPDATE。我这两天会把SC和CR做一遍，有新的发现，会继续UPDATE

SC：刚才做了12版SC前50道题，发现11版黄皮上没有的，紫皮上一道也没有。

但99%的题都见过，个人认为是大全或者PREP320 里的（大全，PREP320 我各做了两遍，GWD只做了9套，到目前）

就目前来讲，可以得出的初步结论是EST的出题思路大致没有变化。

4月份考试的XDJM包括我自己，也可以稍微放心点。

The 12th Edition has 19 more Data Sufficiency problems than the 11th Edition. Moreover, 47% of the Data Sufficiency problems in the 12th Edition are new. For other question formats, turnover is in the 22%-36% range.

In addition, the 12th edition has 19 fewer Problem Solving questions than the 11th Edition. These shifts may suggest an increase in the relative importance of Data Sufficiency, but this is not certain.

Only 1/3 of the questions are new. Out of 907 problems, 607 are repeats. The best way to look at the 12th Edition is as a source of 300 great new practice problems.

 

Much of the book is completely unchanged:

• Most explanations for repeated problems have been untouched, though some have been improved.
• The Diagnostic Exam, Math Review, Test-Taking Strategies and Directions are unchanged.
• Excluding the Diagnostic Exam, sample questions are organized by difficulty, according to the GMAC – just as they are in the 11th edition.

The removed and added problems constitute a slight shift in the relative emphasis of certain topics, but the underlying content is essentially the same as that covered in the 11th Edition.

 

In fact, of the 300 new problems, many of the new Quant problems can be found in GMATPrep? or GMATFocus? (both GMAC products).

 

It is important to note that you should not over-interpret the changes from the 11th Edition to the 12th Edition! Some variation is to be expected. Nothing in these changes suggests a notable shift in how students should prepare for the exam.
