1) Discrimination in wages (underlined part) given rise to substantial differneces between the wages of house painters and secretaries and between the wages of parking-lot workers and library assistants.

the answer is
E in predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female has

why not choose
D that favors predominantly male occupations over the predominantly female has

discrimination。。in。。；favor 与over意思有重复

2) Trying to learn some of the basis of programming is (underlined part) some people end up going to engineering school, and others, twenty years later, remember nothing of the experience.
A  the same as to tinker with a car when one is a teenager

C like tinkering with a car as a teenager
D the same as a teenager tinkering with a car
E like the teenager's tinkering with a car.

the answer given by New Oriental is A. But I think only C matches parallel structure of the sentence.

回来看了下第一题，有点新发现：favors predominantly male 中介词修饰歧义。而且，歧视有利于。。。从逻辑上不通。句仪应为：在哪个领域或方面中的歧视才对。
