For application, some schools ask u to send bank certificate together with ur application package. Usually, you shall provide one year money. The duration is not a problem.

For visa, how long your money has been in bank also does not matter. As long as you can explain how u get them and provide relevant documents. But it is better you have two years money. Sometimes, the VO will ask you to provide 2 years rather than one year.
