"Everywhere, it seems, there are clear and positive signs that people are becoming more respectful of one another's differences."
argument 43
The following appeared in an article in the health section of a newspaper.
"There is a common misconception that university hospitals are better than community or private hospitals. This notion is unfounded, however: the university hospitals in our region employ 15 percent fewer doctors, have a 20 percent lower success rate in treating patients, make far less overall profit, and pay their medical staff considerably less than do private hospitals. Furthermore, many doctors at university hospitals typically divide their time among teaching, conducting research, and treating patients. From this it seems clear that the quality of care at university hospitals is lower than that at other kinds of hospitals."作者: apan 时间: 2003-4-23 11:09
I agree with the view to the extent that it is a trend nowadays that people are becoming
more respectful and tolerant of one another's difference. But this trend does not mean this
promising phenomenon is existing in everywhere of our world.
1.Internationally, diplomatic dialogue has been advocated by many governments to solve problems.
2.In China, the democracy bred in our society is encouraging people to have their own
characters and personalities, a huge contrast with the situate two decades ago.
3. However, the hate crimes, violence and terrorism indicate that we still have a long
way toward respectful and tolerant societies.作者: gladys 时间: 2003-4-23 12:07
Argument 43
1.The first problem with this arguement is thatit assumes the university hospital is
representative of the university hospitals as a whole.
2. The second problems is that it cites the number of doctors employed,
overall profit and salaries of medical staffs as reliable indicators of quality of
medical care.
3.The third problem is that the comparison of success rates between the university hosptial
and other hospitals is a vague and unfair one.
4.We can not safely conclusion that the university hospitals are offering poorer quality of care than other hospitals from the fact that the doctors in university hospitals dividing their time among teaching, researching and treating patients.
