That the new managing editor rose from the publication's "soft" news sections to a leadership position is more of a landmark in the industry than her being a woman
A).....
D) that she was a woman
E) that she is a woman
answer: E
1)比较部分的结构应该是相同的吧,如 something is more of A than of B.
2)为什么用she is a woman? 应该用过去时才对呀。最近碰到好几道题目,都是由这种情况
1) sth is more of... than sth/sb is ....
the structure is parallel, nothing wrong.
2) we must focus on more of the logical meaning than of anything else when doing sentence correction.
Just read " she was a woman" twice. It implys that she is now a trans-gender man or anything else other than a woman.
without further information from the sentence, is this implication ridiculous?作者: oddyuibe 时间: 2003-4-13 10:00
to dl7801:
Oh, I have taken it wrong to compare "more of sth than of sth", while the actual two partes in the comparison should be "that clause" and "that clause".
as for the second point, heehee, I have to say it is a classic explanation
Thanks a lot
