According to farmers’ report, the amount of insecticide needed per acre to control insect pests was only slightly lower for those who tried the modified seed than for those who did not. Therefore, since the modified seed costs more than ordinary seed without producing yields of higher market value, switching to the modified seed would be unlikely to benefit most cotton farmers economically.

我也觉得应该选E啊

如果农夫以前需要使用大量杀虫剂而用了改良种子以后就可以少使用了，说明用杀虫剂还是有经济效益的

大家不要争，这道题选D。原因很简单，实际上是讨论用转基因种子的农夫应该种多少面积的地才能获得最大效益

我觉得选D，因为我们要知道面积是多少才可以比较，也就是文章中的acre，因为最后的文中的结果

slightly lower是说农药/acre，我们要知道的是具体用了多少升农药，而不是农药/acre
