Whether a person's achievements are more important than any of his or her personal faults is a complex question that needs to be weighed on a case by case study. Becuase different people judge the same issue from differen angles and by different stands.
I hold that, to reach our personal conclusions, we need to consider:
1. How great is the achievement
2. What's the negative impact of his failing and how grave it is.
Examples:
As a two-term U.S. president, Bill Clinton brought a great economic booming to his country. Still some people may insist that his achievement in business may not outweigh the negative impact of his lying about his sextual scandle.
