A piece of string is marked in segments of one-fourth the length of the string and also in segments of one third the length of the string. If the string is then cut at each mark, which of the following expresses all the different lengths of the bits of string, in fractions of the original length?

A) 1/12 and 1/4 only

B) 1/4 and 1/3 only

C) 1/6, 1/4 and 1/3

D) 1/12, 1/6, and 1/4

E) 1/12, 1/6, and 1/3

i think the answer is D

1/4-1/3=1/12, 1/2-1/3=1/6

一条绳子，平均分成4段，在每一个平分点做记号；在把这条绳子平均分成3段，在每个平分点做记号。（现在除了绳子的两端，一共有5个mark）在每个记号处把绳子弄断，这些弄断后的小绳子的长度分别是原整条绳子长度的几分之几？

f 1/4点，t 1/3点
左端到第一个f是1/4，第一个f和第一个t之间是1/12，第二个f和第二个t之间是1/6
