a tailor trims 4 feet from opposite edges of a square piece of cloth, and 5 feet from the other two edges. if 120 square feet of cloth remain, what was the length of a side of the original piece of cloth?

PS:
i don't know whether the total feet trimed is 4 feets or 8 feets on one edge.
help me! XDJM

我理解这个意思，就是裁缝从一块正方形的布料上裁减了一个，边成分别为4，5的长方形布料下来后，剩下的面积是120，问原来的面积

同意freedim的解释。就是裁下边长分别是4、5的一个长方形的布。

这是新东方软件上的一道题。答案解释是8 feets by 10 feets。我也认为是4 feets by 5 feets。是不是答案错了？

我想题的意思是说, 从相对的两边分别裁下4FEET, 又从另外两边分别裁下5FEET. 原来的边长应该是20FEET. 不知是不是这样.
