Yale SOM will begin to accept applications for MBA 2007 in mid August. The first-round deadline will be late October.
I would like to share with you the good news for Chinese applicants. The Laura Cha Scholarship and Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship, both exclusively for mainland China students, will welcome their second recipients next year. The Laura Cha Scholarship, awarde every other year, is a full-tuition scholarship set up by Shi Mei Lun, the former vice president of CSRC. The Kevin Y. Zhang Scholarship is a half-tuition one established by Kevin Y. Zhang, 1994 MBA graduate of Yale SOM. Kevin is currently the managing director of Goldman Sachs Hong Kong.
As for 2007 target size, I guess it will be around 180-200. Yale has launched a new MBA core curriculum, and in order to free its faculty to develop new teaching materials, it has already cut 2006 admits to around 180-200. I think this practice will continue into next year. Well, it is a very small program. You decide whether you like it or not.
Last year, SOM's accpetance rate is 28%, but the yield is only 37%, a very disappointing figure. This year's yield has rebounded to around 61%. Although no official data has been released about this year's acceptance rate, my calculation shows it should be around 16%~18%. Evidently, the admission is highly selective.
For those who like to have a taste of the new curriculum, please go to the website http://mba.yale.edu/mba_admissions/curriculum/default.asp
thanks.
yale is my major target this year.
thanx!
