GWD-24-Q20

According to a 1996 survey by the National Association of College and

University Business Officers, more than three times as many independent

institutions of higher education charge tuition and fees of under $8,000 a

year than those that charge over $16,000.      answer: E

A.   than those that charge

B.    than are charging

C.   than to charge

D.   as charge

E.    as those charging

Three times as many institutions charge 8000 dollars as charge 16000 dollars.

Three times as many institutions charge 8000 dollars as those charging 16000 dollars.

D should be the correct answer even though the subject is omitted. However, the omission is reasonable and understandable.

As for E, the word "charging" is very awkward here, and there is no word to parallel it in the context.

Favor E!
