牛牛is right. Your concentration is a factor to measure your GPA.
Or can you wirte an optional essay that explains why your GPA is low? If you are active and sociable in Univeristy, you may highlight your leadership and try to minimize your weakness.作者: 地铁站的吉他 时间: 2002-11-17 11:52
"本人GPA 2.7, 非名校"-that really hurt for US Top20s, the adcom will almost definitely doubt your outstanding GMAT score,although GPA is only around 10% weight comparing the whole app material. GPA 3.0 is a cornerstone for Top50 and GPA 3.2 for Top 20.
Try to find good excuses, otherwise do not waste money for highly competitive US top ranking school. After all $200 is not a small money.

The following are the standards for your reference. Hope this helps.
If you are applying Canadian universities, I can give you some advice. Generally, Canadian universities accept the grading system in China. That means, you don't need to convert your grades. The requirement in good univerisities is 85/10, while some universities only require 80/100. If you do want to convert your grades, or the university you applied has such a requirement, then you should use the following table:
90or above --> A+ 4.3
85-89 --> A 4.0
80-84 --> A- 3.7
75-79 --> B+ 3.3
70-74 --> B 3.0
65-69 --> B- 2.7
60-64 --> C+ 2.3
Most of the universities in Canada use the above table, but some univers ities do have their own grading system. Some have a 4.0 base grading system. And some others rate 85 or above as A+. And sometimes the grading system is different from department to department.
You should convert every course to 4.3 based grade and then calculate the average. At last you write the GPA as *.*/4.3 Some Chinese universities write their converting table in the transcripts. In that case, I think you will have to follow your university.作者: bessette 时间: 2002-12-5 22:29
to sunflower,
According to your suggestion, I send mail to the university. However, they reply below:
We explain the GPA calculation in our application packet. If that doesnt help you then leave that section blank on your application. Once we process an Intl students file we forward it to the International Education Service on our campus and they do the GPA calculations for INtl students.
But there is no explanation in the application packet. They just say "GPA more than 3.0 on a 4 scale is a minimum"
What can I do? send mail again!

Don't try to forge your transcript. That will cost you more than you can expect in the long run.
For your case, a GPA of 2.7 is kind of low if you plan for Top20 schools. Try Major GPA in your resume, if that will be higher.作者: nick1981 时间: 2002-12-21 10:40
