1. Not being professional throughout the process.

Don't be too casual or cavalier with the process. You are applying to businessschool, to be a business professional. The worst thing you can do issubmit a resume that is a total mess with spelling errors throughout. Take thisprocess seriously. It’s one of the few times when we DO have to judge a book byits cover.

2. Not being fully prepared for the GMAT!  

Your GMAT score is critical to your application and acceptance into a top-rated MBAprogram. Make sure you study, study, study! While lots of universitiesonly look at an applicant’s highest score no matter how many times theindividual has taken the test, it’s nice to only have to go through thatgrueling exam once.

3. Annoying your admissions representative.  

There is a fine line between effective communication andhounding your contact to no end. You don't want to be that person whose emailswe start to ignore.

4. Not following upon your application.  

Once you think you've submitted all of the requireddocuments, don’t just check it off of the list! Be sure to follow up with your admission’s representativeto double check that they indeed do have everything they need to complete yourapplication packet and make an admission decision. You don’t want tomiss your start date simply because you forgot to send in your resume and neverfollowed up.

It’s definitely okay to follow up withthem as deadlines approach, just remember to tread carefully on the fine lineof annoyance versus helpful reminders.

8. Waiting until the last minute to request transcripts.

9. Missing the financial aid application deadlines.  

While many universities allow applicants to apply for scholarships up until the general application closing date, students are more likely to receive higherreward amounts if they apply by the priority deadline.

10. Not properly researching your options.  

You’remaking a huge investment that will greatly impact your future. Do yourself a favor and do your homework. Talk to admissions reps, visit campuses,talk to current students and get a feel for the culture, and get to know thefaculty. There’s a lot more to a school than just its website.
