Is /x/ < 1?

1. | x+1| = 2|x-1|

2. |x-3 | 0

What does Statement 2 mean anyway? Could anyone help me with this question? Detailed explanation will be appreciated. Thanks lot. BTW, i wish I could process Chinese, but chinese processing system is not available on this pc. sorry.

假设　0 < x < 1, 那么　| x + 1 | = x + 1, | x - 1 | = x - 1.===>1 - x since /x -1/<0
