Submission of a score is mandatory for all applicants to theMSc Finance and Economicsprogramme.
Submissionof a score is also mandatory for any applicant without a UKundergraduate degree who is applying to MSc Finance (Full-time), MSc Finance andPrivate Equity and MSc Risk and Finance. 3. Iswork experience a requirement to apply?
Workexperience (either through internships or full employment) is not a requirement for any of our full-timeMScs.
However, applicants whohave some professional experience should include this in their application, asit may strengthen their application. All applications are considered on a numberof factors. Work experience can enhance an already academically strongapplication but is not a replacement for meeting the minimum academicrequirement.
For the MSc Finance(Part-time) programme
a key part of a successfulapplication relates to an applicant’s work experience. The SelectionCommittee looks for students who will be working and living in or near London,in or around the financial sector (broadly defined) from the start date of theprogramme. Applicants who cannot demonstrate they will be in this position whenthey apply will be at a significant disadvantage. Having 2-5 years of work experience is particularly advantageous; however, wemake offers are made to applicants with significantly more work experience aswell as to those just starting their career. Each year the Part-time classincludes students with a range of different levels of work experience.
The MScFinance and Economics (Research) programme is not available as a programmechoice during the admissions process. Students apply to MSc Finance andEconomics, take the pre-sessional Introductory Course in Mathematics andStatistics and then apply to the Research programme. Acceptance is based on:the student getting permission to take the Advanced Microeconomics course fromthe course leader in the Department of Economics; performance in theIntroductory Course in Mathematics and Statistics exams; previous background.
