In California, a lack of genetic variation in the Argentine ant has allowed the species to spread widely; due to their being so genetically similar to one another, the ants consider all their fellows to be a close relative and thus do not engage in the kind of fierce intercolony struggles that limits the spread of this species in its native Argentina.

关于C----

1.That一般都是指限定性的修饰，贴近修饰前面的名词，

按理说应该是贴近修饰that 前面的struggles,那后面的谓语动词就应该是limit, 如果C对，那么that修饰的是the kind of fierce intercolony?? 逻辑含义上，其实直接that 修饰struggles就可以了，限制这种群蚂蚁的打斗
2.W说：“similar做表语不接to是主语得是复数，否则只能是sth is similar to sth ”，进而排除掉C；再者，it is so genetically similar无法翻译

关于D---符合了that 贴近修饰，但是关于没划线的尾部，出现的都是单数，this species,its，its指this species，this species指 the ants感觉这句话应该全出现单数名词才对。-------这个种群可以指很多蚂蚁，这样想对吗？

目前沫沫对于这题没划线单数的存在还不太理解懵懵懂懂。求解答。

因沫沫本身对此题that修饰有问题，根据大家讨论出结果得出一个知识点：

1.如果出现 A of B that，一般that是贴近修饰名词B
但要看逻辑含义，有时候也能修饰A
所以说修饰谁，关键还是看逻辑含义
2.similar做表语不接to是主语得是复数，否则只能是sth is similar to sth ”，进而排除掉C
如有反例或者错误请指出 O(∩_∩)O谢谢

根据未划线句来看只能是单数呀,看到单数this和its还理解为很多蚂蚁不是在钻牛角尖么...
比如我们说一个公司怎么怎么样,the company is XXXX，你能理解成公司里有很多人所以要用are么。。。
而且一句话里面要指代相同阿，这样你的单数指代词和复数指代词就是指代两个东西了，如果说its的先行词是 the Argentine ant的话，那么they的先行词是什么呢？

这题我好眼熟，很多人都是没看到未划线句做错的，没想到lz想的这么深呀~

1."struggles" is the subject as it relates to the verb "limit"; the ants are the main subject of the entire second half.

It's the struggles that (potentially) limit the spread of the species.(so C is out)

2.it vs their

"it" cannot be genetically similar to itself; eliminate B and C.

the semicolon divides the sentence, so "their" properly refers to "the ants" after the comma （the preferred rule that antecedent is often placed after the pronoun is broken here）

its refers to species （here is a collective noun，you can get this knowledge through the manhattan SC）

they 应该是指代后面主句的 the ants
its 指 the Argentine ant
就是不知道这样指代会不会出现你说的一句话指代不同的问题
而且C中 that后limits为单数形式就不是修饰struggles 了

就是看久了才想的多要是考试哪有时间给我想如此多呀

species是一个集合性名词，本身含义为复数，但看做为一个整体，其实就是指主句主语The ants，
那就是说，你同意我说的一个种群包含很多蚂蚁，这个解释？
这题出的真够纠结....

yes，指代第二句的ant，you can understand in this way

ant------this species
