sc8.4 A recent review of pay scales indicates that, on average, CEO's now earn 419 times the pay of blue-collar workersm as compared to 42 times their pay, the ratio in 1980.
请问这里的 the ratio 是什么成分呢？是42 times their pay 的名词性同位语么？怎么感觉理解不了？

把on average放在最后面或者去掉试试看理解下
