问题：解析说D中possible不如possibly好。。为什么呢？preventing在这里是简单动名词啊应该看成名词形容词来修饰名词有何不妥？

个人认为，碰到这种状语表达，最实用的方法是看状语与主语的关系

就是吧句子主语代入状语中，看是否正确

the brewed leaves the possible preventing and inhibiting of（这里是两个名词性短语，毫无关系）

the brewed leaves possibly preventing or inhibiting （可以组成主谓结构）

状语是要修饰主语，所以状语的逻辑主语必须是主语，或者在比较结构中，两者具有可比性。

我明白你意思~这个角度看确实如你所说
刚才我又查了查笔记：介词+doing,S V O 结构中，要考虑逻辑主语。从这个角度看E是正确的而D的表达相对于E来说，比较wordy

我觉得D：besides the possible preventing and inhibiting of，不是wordy的问题，看下那本manhattan的SC书，the ~ing 的形式是gurend的名词结构， possible也是作为adj来修饰名词the preventing/ the inhibiting of，根据这个M的语法，一般都是verb形式比Noun形式的要好，且E的逻辑主语一致，所以E好于D

你说的是M相关语法条目中的第一条吧？M说动词优于动作名词，the doing是复杂动名词。不过你的意思我明白，我的意思就是名词形式相对于动词来说更wordy，应优先用动词~

这个E好于D 语法笔记上说过还有就是preventing or inhibiting 表示

的是同种意思的不同程度只能用or 不能用and~

选项中的doing是跟着后面的句子中的play a role in 来的，所以考察了play a role in + doing的结构。故D可以排除。
