我认为这里削弱的应该是mismatched sleeping and waking cycles can seriously jeopardize a marriage.

A Married couples in which both spouses follow the same sleeping and waking patterns

also occasionally have arguments than can jeopardize the couple's marriage.

这里occasionally不是否定的意思而是说偶然.所以去除和不去除我觉得关系不大.A并没有针对结论削弱.

去掉occationally只是说明了patterns相同的couple也jeopardize marriage。不能weaken "mismatched patterns jeopardize marriage"如果原文说mismatched patterns jeopardize marriage more than same patterns，那是weaken。
