Brochure:  Help conserve our city’s water supply.  By converting the landscaping in your yard toa water-conserving landscape, you can greatly reduce your outdoor water use.  A water-conserving landscape is natural andattractive, and it also saves you money.
Criticism:  For most people with yards, the savings fromconverting to a water-conserving landscape cannot justify the expense of newlandscaping, since typically the conversion would save less than twenty dollarson a homeowner’s yearly water bills.
Whichof the following, if true, provides the best basis for a rebuttal of thecriticism? (是削弱criticism的说法,还是问criticism怎么削弱brochure的?)
  • A     conventional landscape generally requires a much greater expenditure on     fertilizer and herbicide than does a water-conserving landscape.
  • A     significant proportion of the residents of the city live in buildings that     do not have yards.
  • It     costs no more to put in water-conserving landscaping than it does to put     in conventional landscaping.
  • Some     homeowners use more water to maintain their yards than they use for all     other purposes combined.
    答案说是B,这题是怎么个逻辑啊?

    哎,做GWD好慌啊,思维越加混乱,信心越加被打击。还有10来天考试,紧张哇!!!怎么办呐?

    十分感谢!!

    Which of the following, if true, provides the best basis for a rebuttal of the criticism?
    A.Even homeowners whose yards do not have water-conserving landscapes can conserve water by installing water-saving devices in their homes.
    B.A conventional landscape generally requires a much greater expenditure on fertilizer and herbicide than does a water-conserving landscape.
    C.A significant proportion of the residents of the city live in buildings that do not have yards.
    D.It costs no more to put in water-conserving landscaping than it does to put in conventional landscaping.

    Brochure的观点:省钱;
    Criticism的观点:不能省钱;
    问:哪一个最能削弱Criticism的观点,所以选项中能够证明新的water-conserving landscape的确能省钱就可以了,
    只有B能推出:B的意思说:传统的设施在灌溉和除草方面要花费更多的钱(所以换了新的设施自然在这部分把钱省下来了)

    我也说说自己的理解吧。
    Brochure是让大家装节水的,不但节水还能省水钱
    Criticism是说装新的花的钱比节约的水钱多多了;
    问的是那个能够反驳Criticism的观点。
    B说的是新的不但节水,还能节约用在肥料和杀虫剂上的钱。是划算的。
    其他的选项都不能反映出新的设备能省钱这点。
