(E)appeared to have been equipped for facing any
obstacle the environment could put in their path,

选B。还是不是很理解appear to have been equipped 这个时态的用法，还有 CD,两项paths 不是很理解，虽然OG解释过了。。

楼主好，我帮帮你~
C和D中的path应该是单数，因为一种动物进化应该只有一种进程的进化方向，不可能很多种~所以这里自然是path~

而这里的appear to have been equipped 你就记一下吧，我也是问的别人，这个是“似乎做过某事”，固定搭配~这个have done的动作发生在appear之前~
