According to a study by theCarnegieFoundation for the Advancement of Teaching, companies in the United States are providing job training and general education for nearly eight million people, about equivalent to the enrollment of the nation’s four-year colleges and universities.
(A) equivalent to the enrollment of
(B) the equivalent of those enrolled in
(C) equal to those who are enrolled in
(D) as many as the enrollment of （E）
(E) as many as are enrolled in

看了不少论坛上解释，但是觉得还是很模糊
有个说法是E省略了the poeple,但是补上后数量跟人比一样不行啊，那C为什么不可以呢？

因为nearly eight million people是人不是数量，所以你才会搞不清楚。

因此C是错的，C表示j那eight million people与进入大学的人们完全属于同一群

人(EQUAL)，而非指数量上面的相同。试比较A are equal to B以及the number of

A is equal to thenumber of B的不同。
E是对的，因为他是人和人比。nearly eight million people与(people) are

enrolled in比。
