仅仅因为operate 跟as吗?A中of being dwelling 也可以吗?我不太明白这句句子.请好心人指点,谢谢.

这里其实省略了助动词，在GMAT中，是可以省略的
否则的话这里解释不通
being并不是所有情况下都不正确的

yes, it is. for your understand:
"the peculiar distinction that must also operate as businesses do."
"the perculiar distinction of dwellings" Vs. "the perculiar distincation of being dwellings": "房屋特别处...." Vs. "作为住所的特别不同.."
