我觉得excelling是名词性的，eating food里面的eating是动词性的。

动词性和名词性的东西可以并列马？？

excelling也是现在分词，只不过是excel是不及物动词，所以有excelling at
都是动名词

楼主没有注意到eating food前的the，这里的the说明eating是动名词了啊是名词性的。
