wolves generally avoid human settlements. for this reason, domestic sheep, though essentially easy prey for wolves, are not usually attacked by them. in Hylantia prior to 1910, farmers nevertheless lost considerable numbers of sheep to wolves each year. attributing this to the large number of wolves, in 1910 the government began offering rewards to hunters for killing wolves. from 1910 to 1915, large numbers of wolves were killed, yet wolves attacks on shepp increased significantly.
问题是哪个选项能解释这个现象
C after 1910 hunters shot and wounded a substantial number of wolves, thereby greatly diminishing these wolves' ability to prey on wild animals.
D domestic sheep are significantly less able than most wild animals to defend themselves against wolf attacks.
D重复说了一遍文中的信息though essentially easy prey for wolves,是无用的项,不能解释文中的现象。。我觉得。作者: supermanlee 时间: 2011-5-11 06:32
This is a paradox question. C explains why after the hunters tried to kill wolf in order to protect the lambs, wolf-attack on lambs increased. C is the correct answer.

If a wolf cannot eat wild animals, who would be its target as meal?作者: allygmat7 时间: 2011-5-12 21:14
Let's assume D is right, it could only prove that domestic sheep are easily being attacked by wolves, but cannot explain why the number of attack was significantly increased after the wolves were hunted down. Can you think of a reasonable link here?作者: eeheaven 时间: 2011-5-13 21:06
