52.The interview is an essential part of a successful hiringprogram because, with it, job applicants who have personalities that are unsuited to the requirements of the job will be eliminated from consideration.
The argument above logically depends on which of the following assumptions?
(A) A hiringprogram will be successful if it includes interviews.
(B) The interview is a more important part of a successful hiringprogram than is the development of a job description.
(C) Interviewers can accurately identify applicants whose personalities are unsuited to the requirements of the job.
(D) The only purpose of an interview is to evaluate whether job applicants’ personalities are suited to the requirements of the job.
(E) The fit of job applicants’ personalities to the requirements of the job was once the most important factor in making hiring decisions.
我的思路是 :成功的hiring program 推出 排除unsuited(即interview)
The fit of job applicants’ personalities to the requirements of the job is the most important factor in making hiring decisions。
选择E(改进后的E)
"The fit of job applicants’ personalities to the requirements of the job" does not need to be the MOST important factor for making hiring decisions. For example, it could be one of several equally important factors.
What I said is that E is not a necessary assumption for the
argument to hold. It is NOT necessary for E to be true in order for
the argument to hold. Of course you have to prove the right answer IS
required as a necessary assumption. That's all this type of question
is about.
Let's put it this way, E is sufficient but NOT necessary for the conclusion of the arugment to hold. Think about it!
what i mean is that if i think it this way:
if "The interview is an essential part of a successful hiringprogram",
the assumption must be like this
the interview with which you can eliminate unsuitable people is a very important factor for a successful hiringprogram.(this is necessary, because if interview isn't a very important factor, how could interview be an essential part of a successful hiringprogram? )
You may say that E says interview is "the most" improtant... and it's not safe to say so.
But i think, this is a assumption question; we assume E is true at the first place ,so if E could be the assumption ,it is ture.
the above is based on that E's "was once" has been replaced by"is".
LS, you still do not understand the meaning of necessary. The fit fit of job applicants’ personalities to the requirements of the job WOULD NEVER BE REQUIRED as the most important factor in making hiring decisions in order to make interview an essential part of a successful hiring program.
This means if you remove E, the interview is still an essential part of a successful hiring program because during an interview, other aspects of the candidate will be scrutinized. For example, does the guy have the required knowledge of the trade? Does he speak perfect English? Does he think logically and quickly? How would he handle tough questions?
