i had wanted to say E. but i know why, it's no good.

A recently discovered substance, 50 times sweeter than sucrose from the licorice plant E错在介词短语位置改变修饰对象改变。
B is the best。
A substance, which was recently discovered, from the licorice plant, 50 times sweeter than sucrose,

这里为什么要加一个逗号? 我总感觉把逗号去掉更好。

(E) A recently discovered substance, 50 times sweeter than sucrose， from the licorice plant,这里不知道是不是少了个逗号，如果没有地话，那么就是不对地，修饰对象不对。
