9 Although compact cars make up only 38percent of the vehicles in traffic ,48percent of the cars that are followed too closedly("tailgated")are compat .On the other hand ,fewer than 27 percent of the cars tailgated are middle-sized, even though middle-sized cars make up 31percent of the vehicles in traffic.
Which of the following, if true, most contributes to an explanaion for the phenomenon described above?
A The shape of compact cars makes iteasy for a tailgater to see far enough ahead around such cars to minimize the chances of a rear-end collision.
B Middle-sized cars,owned by families with children and pets, are likely to have bumper stickers that are so interesting to have bumper stickers that are so interesting to read that tailgaters stay behind such cars longer.
C Compact cars on the highway that allow them to pass middle-size cars on the highway easily.
D he percentage of cars on the highway that are middle-size has been steadily decreasing over the last decade.

答案A，我不太理解，难道题目不是说小型车更加容易被撞吗？

我觉得是这样的：COMPACT CAR被撞的百分比=0.38X0.48=18%
而MIDDLE-SIZED是27%，CONMACT CAR被撞可能性小
两者比例关系不一样，所以选A

First paraphase the question stem:

Firstly, there is a paradox presented by the question stem.Compact cars (小型车辆）makes up only 38 % of total cars, YET, 48 % of them are tailgated(被跟紧在后头） Medium size cars which makes up 31% of total vehicles, BUT only 27 % are tailgated.

What is the reason for this phoenomena ?(找出现象的理由）
Only A provides the best explanation. Reasoning
-As the tailgater can see the the road in front of the compact car(smaller car) more easily, it can afford to do so. Conversely (相反的), Medium size car cannot be tailgated easily because of the same reason.

B,C,D,E do not explain the phoenomena.

对不起，英语用词有点错误，应该是

“Likewise (同样的）Medium size car cannot be tailgated easily because of the same reason。“

我好像越看越糊涂了，题目是说小型车更加容易被追尾对吗？可是A难道不是在说小型车的车型使跟在后面的车看到前面足够远，从而减小相撞可能性么？那么A解释的是为什么小型车不容易被追尾啊！麻烦大家再看看。谢谢

你应该看我的解释
题目中说小型车不容易被追尾，COMPACT CAR被撞的百分比=0.38X0.48=18%
而MIDDLE-SIZED是27%，CONMACT CAR被撞可能性小。
我不知道陈月鳞在说写什么。

首先，对于解释现象类考题，只要选项中说了矛盾点的就是答案！那么首先要把矛盾点找出来。
原文说，小车占总的38%，但有48%北追尾，但中车占总的31%，却只有27北追尾，矛盾点就是“小车容易被追尾”。那我们看选象把：
a,说的是，小车的形状让追尾者容易看到头部，从而减少了尾部碰撞的可能。这不就是说，即使追尾小车，追尾者的危险性更小嘛？那不就解释了追尾率高的原因嘛？——注意，整个文章就没说碰撞！！
b,一看到，owned by families with children and pets，就知道是中车的子集了，但我们需要解释的问题是全集，而我们根本没办法根据子集来解释全集。其它都不用看了：）
c,小车更容易超过中车，显然无关嘛！
d，中车比例下降，无关。
e,小车被快车手驾驶。无关。

在本题中，有关答案，必须具有追尾，小车或者中车这样的信息。

终于明白了，原来文章中说的追尾不是事故发生，只是跟得紧。谢谢，看来读题还应该更加仔细。
