E中的省略是完全合理的,wages paid是wages that be paid的省略,在省略that be不影响原文意思的情况下,用分词直接做定语修饰名词是最简洁有效的表达方法。
表示比较的时候相同的成分是可以省略的,这里wages paid in predominately male occupation over (wages paid) in predominately female (occupation),省略了相同的部分,仅写出predominately female表示比较对象,没有问题。

再考虑了下,D 可能是错在:我们说 women institute 而不能说 institute that is woman
