After graduation I realized that the program made me a better person with a very strong theoretical background in business. Also, I made great fiends in the program. I will be able to count on them for the rest of my life. I just can't put a price on that!!
The program provided excellent learning opportunities and very capable faculty. Most important, though, it gave us a lot of information which transferred seamlessly from the classroom to the office, and improved my work.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:09
Every Thursday we had "partios" (parties on the patio) sponsored by local companies where students could network with the employees of the company and also other students. It provided a great opportunity to learn more about the company and also to sell oneself in the hopes of a job opportunity.
Some of the classmates were great, others were very poor and basically absent. Allowing students to establish their own groups early on would have alleviated some of the frustration in dealing with groups.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:10
Rice is a great program on the upswing. Program Office is eager to please. Teaching is superb and engaged.
This institution and the Program Office did everything possible to provide the evening students with an in-depth MBA experience that would be as comparable as possible to a full-time MBA experience. I must state that our program is technically full-time, we finished in 22 months, and it was a cohort program (lock-step first year, all electives the second). The depth of MBA experience, given that it was a predominately evening program, was truly remarkable.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:10
Every meal was a networking experience. My peers were of very high caliber, and I made a lot of contacts that helped me in my job.
I can't recommend the Jones School at Rice University enough. While there were some difficulties, the program exceeded my expectations entirely. The caliber of my classmates, both intellectually and in terms of their experience was incredible. By the way, the MBA for professionals at the Jones School is a FULL-time evening program. Going to school full time and working full time for 22 months was very difficult—and very worth it.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:10
I did not like the forced class participation. Few professors were able to foster and facilitate a true classroom discussion without it feeling forced. When you have a forced participation grade, it only entices some to comment for the sake of commenting.
I am a strong advocate of the Rice Program. The program is very intimate and there is easy access to faculty and administrators. There is good diversity within the student body. The oil/gas industry brings a diverse selection of talent individuals to Houston. There are good professors. Classes are challenging, but not so tough that you don't enjoy yourself. And it has a great facility.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:11
There should be more interaction with full-time and executive MBA through networking, classes, activities. Also, better mutual understanding/cooperation with full time students. It felt competitive, and like we weren't warmly received by full-time students, though it got better later in program. There should also be more coordination and consideration of professional MBA's schedule needs for club activities. And most importantly, there needs to be a parity of resources by the career management center for time and assistance. More assistance tailored for professional MBAs seeking career changes would improve the experience作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:11
The strength is instructors were involved in cutting-edge research and very current on the times (with regard to changes in the business environment). The only weakness was a few professors lacked adequate years of teaching experience, so there were deficiencies in their curriculum development.
The strength of the instructors was their youth and intellect. They were on the leading edge of their fields, and had the ability to relate and utilize the experience and knowledge of the students.作者: s 时间: 2010-9-27 17:11
Due to the scheduling constraints of the part-time program, not all classes available to the day-time students were available at night. There were a few courses that I wanted to take but was unable to because they were only offered during the day and I couldn't miss work to attend them. It would have been nice to have had access to all courses.
I had an incredible experience at Rice and would absolutely recommend the Rice MBA program to anyone who's looking to work and receive a top-notch education at the same time. The faculty and staff were incredible and the overall learning environment was second to none. Balancing a full-time job and the workload from an MBA program for two years was a very demanding task but I learned more than I had ever hoped for and developed a very impressive and far-reaching network of colleagues that I will definitely be able to use in the future.
