Once positioned in space, the Hubble Space Telescope will capture light from sources twenty times fainter compared to those that can be detected by gound-based instruments.

B compared to those they can detect
C than that can be detected
D than those that can be detected
E than those detecting

正确答案是D,那C为什么错了呢?D里那个those指代什么?我觉得不应该指代sources啊

我给你一个权威的解释~
考点是 fainter 是 faint 的比较式，所以后面一定要跟 than。

不过这题的答案是错误的。twenty times fainter 的只能是 light，不能是 sources，因为 faint 和 bright 都是观察光的结果，不是观察光源。光源到底是光还是暗，和离光源的距离有关，所以不是 intrinsic property。

既然比较的是光，那么 than 后面跟着的就是 light，应该是 that 而不是 those。正确的句子应该是：Once positioned in space, the Hubble Space Telescope will capture light from sources twenty times fainter than that that can be detected by ground-based instruments.
注意，是连用两个 that 的。不是我打错了。
