我想知道的是B 的IN ADDITION TO有没有错呢如果又是怎么错了呢

应该是 C 正确么？
B当中改变了句子重心，变成 a tripling was due to .... 强调了原因
而题干本意是强调 output tripled
另外，B中的 in addition to + n. 没错，不过tripling别扭。

A错在as a result of 和 because 重复
C也不尽完美，charcoal's being replaced不如the replacement of charcoal标准。
D错在前半句做原因状语，缺乏引导词with
E缺乏谓语。

综合考虑的话，我感觉C是比较正确的一个选项了。

是A。。。他们说A AS A RESULT OF 和BECAUSE并列
我在想是不是IN ADDITION TO 表原因并列没有原句那么强烈

In addition to 没有表原因的意思只有“除...之外(还)”的意思！意思要做到平行结构自然而然就是选A了
另外开头是以类似Over the course of the eighteenth century短语作为开头的一般不用动它（自己的一点小感觉）
