The list shown consists of the times, in seconds, that it took each of 10 schoolchildren to run a distance of 400 meters. If the standard deviation of the 10 running times is 22.4 seconds, rounded to the nearest tenth of a second, how many of the 10 running times are more than 1 standard deviation below the mean of the 10 running times?

A. One
B. Two
C. Three
D. Four
E. Five

答案是B。我是题目也看不懂。啥叫more than 1 standard deviation below the mean？请nn帮忙解释一下这题。谢谢！

我也遇到这道理了。

我的理解是standard deviation 是标准差的意思。

就是10个running times的平均值，减去一个标准差22.4。题目问的是多少人的时间低于这个值。

你这道题是不是记错了？

我遇到的是N个数，然后问有几个在这N个数的mean的standard deviation 之外？

算法就是mean加一个standard deviation ，再减一个standard deviation ；看这两个数区间之外的数有几个。

醍醐灌顶，重做了一遍，发现原来这道题这么简单的。

加了老半天算了下平均值，得100。然后减去那个所谓的标准差22.4，得到77.6。再回头看数列，发现只有两个数是低于77.6的，因此选B。

天哪～～～

more than 我觉得应该是有多少数是大于（mean-standard deviation）,而不是低于啊~
