问题：
1、为什么E不对：理解为by liberating ... and persuading...的并列
2、persuading后面可以直接用that吗？

菜鸟的一点小想法：

1、E：逻辑表达，主句不能任意改为从句。persuade本应和turn并列，by liberating...是turn句的状语从句，persuade如果和liberate并列，就从本来的主句动词变成了turn句中的从句内容，和原句逻辑意思不相符。

2、persuade that是不对的，可以用persude sb that....

句是与turned the tide of English……平行的。再次感谢！

补充一点如果是理解为by liberating ... and persuading...的并列
那么
正确形式应该是 by liberating ... and by persuading by不可以省
