In 1973, Alexander Pope began his translation of the lliad, a work that took him seven years to complete and that literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, prounced the greatest translation in any lauguage.

a work that took him seven years to complete and that literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, prounced

a work that...and that...

a work that took him seven years to complete and (a work)that literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, prounced

In 1973, Alexander Pope began his translation of the lliad, a work that took him seven years to complete

and (Alexander Pope began his translation of ) that  literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary, (which is )

pronounced the greatest translation in any lauguage.

后面的prounced the greatest translaion in any language. 作为修饰that  literary critic Samuel Johnson, Pope's contemporary,的一个定语从句, 并省略了which is .
