还是说，这里是因为 so that 句型的关系，is就不能省略了？

我的理解是，可以省略的情况为:and前后两个并列成分的主语一致，比如说：I am excited and (am)happy.

可是原句中，and前后成分的主语不一致，一个the temperatures, 一个the ice cap.
