BoardID=54&ID=16245&replyID=&skin=1。

To some extent, I agree with the author’s general assertion that… if… . However, the author unnecessarily extends this broad assertion to an irreversible extreme while overlooks other compelling factors that may affect this issue. As a matter of fact, the issue of whether ….. is a complex and controversial one.

Therefore, whether one choice takes precedence over the other may quite depend on the specific situation. As far as I am concerned, the final judgment should rely on a case-by-case analysis. 一边:On the surface, it may seem a sound idea that …, but carefully weighing on the mind, I agree that … takes precedence over….

First

First of all, I would like to admit that, although it suffers from some obvious drawbacks, this statement has some merits primarily in some special cases in which the implicit rationale behind it accords with common sense and our experience in daily life. Hence, it is partially indisputable. On the one hand, one of important reasons that can be presented to develop my position is that… Examples can easily be found to support this view point. …Under this circumstance, it is obvious that….

Second

On the other hand, another equally important aspect is that…. For one thing, the most immediate factor that has given rise to this phenomenon is the…, which has, in turn, …For another, …pushes…,creating…In a word, all these evidence demonstrates beyond any doubt that….

Third

However, recognizing a more applicable choice must incorporate different aspects of the issue as sufficient as possible. I have to point out that the author overstates ’s comparative significance, and fail to take into account other essential factors. Firstly,…. Secondly…

末段

To sum up, the issue of…is a complex one, requiring subjective judgment. So different are the personal experiences and emotional concerns among people with diverse culture that thousand individuals might hold thousand opinions. According to me, due to the above mentioned reasons, which sometimes correlate with each other to generate an integrate whole and thus become more convincing than any single one of them, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that.. There are two reasons1) ...; (2) .... Admittedly, there is no denying that...in some conditions.

AA

首段

In this argument the author reaches the conclusion that… This conclusion is based on the assertion that ... To support this conclusion, the author reasons that …In addition, he assumes that ... At first glance, the author’s argument appears to be somewhat convincing, but after closely examining the author’s logic and reasoning, we find that it omits some important concerns that should be addressed to substantiate the argument.

The author commits a fallacy of causal oversimplification. The line of the reasoning is that because A occurred before B (A and B occurred at the same time), the former event is responsible for the latter. However, the fact that A coincides with B does not necessarily prove that A caused B. Instead, this is fallacious reasoning unless other possible causal explanations have been considered and ruled out. For example, perhaps C is the cause of these events or perhaps B is caused by D.

Insufficient-sample

The evidence the author provides is insufficient to support the conclusion drawn from it. One example is logically unsounded to establish a general conclusion, unless the author could demonstrate that A1 is representative of all A. It is possible that.... In fact, in face of such limited evidence, the conclusion that B is completely unwarranted.

第三宗罪: 错误类比 (based on a false analogy )<横向>
Additionally, the argument rests on the assumption that A is analogous to B in all respects. It is true that there are several points of similarity between A and B. However, differences between these two clearly outweigh the similarities. For example, C and D all affect A but virtually absent in B. Accordingly, we can see that A and B are so dissimilar that B is unlikely to experience the same consequence if it adopts A’s strategies.

第四宗罪 all things are equal<纵向>

The author assumes without justification that the background conditions remain the same in different periods or at different places. In the reasoning, the author indicates that A will remain unchanged over the next decades, whereas statistics from such limited anecdotal evidence is not a good indicator for this trend. Conversely, it is possible that in the future, this trend would greatly fluctuate or even reverse. Consequentily, the adoption of the author’s proposal might give birth to B.

Either-Or choice
The author assumes that AA and BB are mutually exclusive alternatives and there is no room for a middle ground. However, the argument fails to rule out the possibility that adjusting A and B might produce better results. Moreover, if the author is wrong in the assumption that A and B are the only causes of the problem, the most effective solution might include a complex of other factors—such as C and D.

第六宗罪 survey is doubtful

The poll cited by the author is too vague to be informative. On the one hand, the claim does not indicate that who, when, how and by whom the survey is conducted. On the other hand, it lacks information about the sample size, or how the samples are selected. For example, if 200 persons were surveyed but only 2 responded, the conclusion would be highly suspect. Because the argument offers no evidence that would rule out this kind of interpretations, it is impossible to assess the validity of the results.

The author falsely depends on gratuitous assumption that.... However, the assumption is questionable because the author provides no evidence to support this argument. In fact, this is not necessarily the case, since the arguer fails to take into account other facts that might contribute to the result that… It is likely that,…; it is also likely that … Any of these scenarios, if true, would show that …

末段

Based on the reasons I listed above, the argument lacks credibility and the arguer’s reasoning fails to support the conclusion. Therefore, the conclusion is not persuasive as it stands. To make this argument logically acceptable, the author would have to show that…. Moveover, to solidify the conclusion, the author should provide concrete evidence as well to demonstrate that…. In addition, to better assess the argument, we need additional detailed information about … Only with more convincing evidence could this argument become more than just an emotional appeal.
