I am really wondering why nobody asks about this problem:
Q20:
Rivaling the pyramids of Egypt or even the ancient cities of the Maya as an achievement, the army of terra-cotta warriors created to protect Qin Shi Huang, China’s first emperor, in his afterlife is more than 2,000 years old and took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete them.
A. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete them
B. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete it
C. took 700,000 artisans more than 36 years to complete
D. 700,000 artisans took more than 36 years to complete
E. to complete them too 700,000 artisans more than 36 years
The answer is B instead of C, but it is obvious that the correct form is " XXX took somebody some time to complete", rather than ".... to complete it". I don't know why there should be an "it" here.
This is an abvious point to me, so it really bewilderd me when I searched all WGD related topics and found none about this one. Am I wrong作者: teyvhf 时间: 2004-8-23 07:27
Your are not wrong. I am standing firmly with you, or I am glad to find that you are standing firmly with me. Actually, the answer must be C.作者: himba 时间: 2004-8-23 07:29
good to hear your opinion, tianwan! People seem to have a lot of discrepancies in GWD Zhenti's. Most of those questions are against the GMAT principles I have learned from OG and LZM. This is really frustrating. WHat do you think of GWD? I tried only one test. I am wondering whether I should continue.
