I was choosing between A and E too.
But I ended up with A.
I elimited E because:
- I thought that "outnumber" should be in the past tense - "outnumbered"
- The main clause in the original sentence is "Emily Dickinson’s letters to Susan Huntington Dickinson were written over a period"; but the main clause in E is "Emily Dickinson’s letters to Susan Huntington Dickinson outnumber her letters to anyone else". I thought that the correct answer rarely had a different emphasis, which the main clause states.
Any flaw in A?
Any comment is welcome.
