I live outside the US so was fortunate that Yale found an alum that was relatively close to me. The adcom put me in contact and I set up an interview for an African capital city. I met her at her office and we completed the whole process in about 30 mins. She was very friendly and positive, it was a low-key interview and she explained that her job was just to make sure that my "story" was compelling and that I could communicate effectively in English. She gave a bit of her background, then asked me pretty much the same questions that all other people have reported; no gotcha questions or anything that you shouldn't be more than adequately prepared for; why did you do this, why did you do that, what are your plans, etc. If you can't do well on this interview you really do not have any business attending an elite MBA program (or any other professional training or employment generally). It was all talking about your life/experiences from high school to date and plans for the future, not something to stress out about; relax and speak honestly and directly.

  • Walk me through your experiences from high school to now
  • Explain what you do in your job
  • What are your future plans
  • Why MBA
  • Why SOM
  • Why not a specialized masters at School of Forestry or elsewhere vs. MBA (I have specific clear interests and direction)
  • Questions for interviewer
