The issue of whether an business can achieve lasting success or become more and more rich in the environment of drastic market competition by conventional practices or way of thinking attracts many people’s attentions. Some people believe that an corporation can outweigh other companys by conventional practices; others, basing on their experience and insight, maintain that an business can succeed among the environment of competition over other competitors by non-conventional business behaviors. In my point of view, I totally agree the latter one that only if an company adopted advanced and progressive business practices, it would increasingly succeed more. In the following analysis, I would like reason and provide evidence to support my statement.
To begin with, under the environment of free market, bussinesses face all kinds of challenges from other competitors and customers have the right to chose their satisfactory productions. It is necessary for these businesses to enhance the quality of the products, increase the patterns of products, and bolster the skills of employees if they expect to meet the demand of customers and thereby promote competitive ability. However, using conventional business practices, the corporations can not achieve their goal. The conventional stereotypes do not adapt to the requirement of society because they can not keep step with fashion.
In contrast, innovative and progressive business practices that improve the traditional modes of services and productions will continuously bring benefit to companys, making these organizations at an advantage over their competitors. For example, in the 1970’s, producer of Beta fromat for vidio cassette recoders first developed this kind of recoder. But, ove time, it lost a majority of its market share to its competitor, a developer of VHS(video home system) format for this recorder. The reason for the success of the VHS business was that it abandoned the conventional means of market promotion, a means that did not cooporate with other manufacturer but devoted to monopoly market alone, while adopting the method of sharing market and technology with others.
Admittedly, not any thing conventional is out of date and therefore should be discarded. A particular example for this is Coca Cola corporation. To bolster its sale, Coca Cola planed to change the ingredient of its product, but this behavior irritated almost all of the customers, which insisted that they only favored conventional pattern of baverage. Given this, Coca Cola was obliged to cancel its plan and continuted to persist the old pattern. However, this case are rare and therefore are too specific and too weak to strengthen the view that the conventiaonal is better.
To sum up, it is likely that people will never arrive at the same conclusion on such a controversial issue. Nevertheless, taking into account the various dimensions of the issue disscussed in the above analysis will certainly contribute to our understanding of the complexities of the issue. |
