"Employers should have no right to obtain information about their employees' health or other aspects of their personal lives without the employees' permission."

argument 31
The following appeared as part of the business plan of an investment and financial consulting firm.
"Studies suggest that an average coffee drinker's consumption of coffee increases with age, from age 10 through age 60. Even after age 60, coffee consumption remains high. The average cola drinker's consumption of cola, however, declines with increasing age. Both of these trends have remained stable for the past 40 years. Given that the number of older adults will significantly increase as the population ages over the next 20 years, it follows that the demand for coffee will increase and the demand for cola will decrease during this period. We should, therefore, consider transferring our investments from Cola Loca to Early Bird Coffee."

“没有雇员的同意时,雇主应该没有权力去了解他的雇员的健康状况和其他的私人生活方面的信息。”

argument 31.

Argument 31,

The business plan of the investment and financial consulting firm is not a sensible
one for three reasons:

1.The arguement relys on the assumption that the trends that coffee consumption increase with age and
cola consumption derease with age will remain stable in the coming years.

2. Even though the trend remains stable in the future, the conclusion that the
demand for coffee will increase and the demand for cola will decrease during
this period is a highly suspected one.  Other factors, such as the recent
increasing popularity of green tea may decrease both the demands for
Coffee and Cola.

3. The business plan assumes that transferring investments from Cola Loca to
Early Bird Coffee makes economic sense, failing to consider other relevant factors
such as Marketing share, ROI etc.

Issue 60

I agree with the view that employers should have no right to obtain information
about their employees' health or other aspects of their personal lives without
the consent of their employees.

1. Employers' obtaining employee's personal information without employee's consent
can breed resentment in the workplace, because this practise can be regarded as
signs of disrespect.

2. Most employees have a sense of insecurity and distrust if their personal
information is obtained by their employers without their permission.

3. Employers can have better ways to get to know their employee's personal
information without irritating their employees.
