请教increased 与increasing的区别

如题。请高手解答，谢谢！

increased 过去分词，表示被动和过去的动作
increasing 现在分词，表示主动和正在进行的动作

不知道这样说是不是有用

我也晓得他们之间语意的区别。可是在具体的问题上仍然没有办法准确判断该用哪一个。LZM的GMAT家规有说increased比较常用，但也没有绝对的事情呀
这里有一题Contrary to earlier conjectures, it may be that (increased atmospheric carbon dioxide as a result of buring) fossil fuels would cool the globe by reducing the amount of solar energy absorbed by snow.

这道题该怎么判断选择increased 还是increaing呢？

很难判断, 但从其他部分看应是increased

首先, atmospheric carbon dioxide 不可能自己"increasing",只能是被动;
其次, 根据题目意思,这里讲的是已经增加的atmospheric carbon dioxide是由于...;

increasing如果在这里解释为正在增长，似乎也说的过去。。。。。
