这道题选E么，昨天有人问过的我选的是A，因为我记得prove这个词是主动表被动的用法，而E里面等于省略了it is, 即原来是but then (it is )proved unable to...   而prove的正确用法是It proved unable to....

所以我想问有没有权威说法证实这种主动表被动的词可以象E这样用么？

首先，划线部分是分句，它是与became并列，所以应省掉它的主语it,否则重复，

falling是proved的状语，也就是falling现在分词短语做状语表示状态，e正确 。
