GWD 24-12

12 During a 10-week summer vacation, was the average (arithmetic mean) number of books that Carolyn read per week greater than the average number of books that Jacob read per week?

(1) Twice the average number of books that Carolyn read per week was greater than 5 less than twice the average number of books that Jacob read per week.

(2) During the last 5 weeks of the vacation, Carolyn read a total of 3 books more than Jacob.

l Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient

l Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient

l BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.

l EACH statement ALONE is sufficient

l Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient

Answer A

我选E,A怎么算出来的呢? C的两倍大于J两倍减5, 不知道是不是我理解有问题

Haha, take that back (already)... Talked to wycg banban and he thinks there should be a comma between 5 and less than. Which means you can get J * 2 > C * 2 > 5 from condition 1.

Twice the average number of books that Carolyn read per week was greater than 5 <comma> less than twice the average number of books that Jacob read per week.
