Therefore, high anger level at earlier age can cause heart-failure at an elder age.

和几个MATH JJ 的更正~~~(see math JJ highlights in BLUE blow )

740 - math 51, verbal 38,

39. The following appeared in an Avia Airlines departmental memorandum.
“On average, 9 out of every 1,000 passengers who traveled on Avia Airlines last year filed a complaint about our baggage-handling procedures. This means that although some 1 percent of our passengers were unhappy with those procedures, the overwhelming majority were quite satisfied with them; thus it would appear that a review of the procedures is not important to our goal of maintaining or increasing the number of Avia’s passengers.”

40. “With the increasing emphasis on a global economy and international cooperation, people need to understand that their role as citizens of the world is more important than their role as citizens of a particular country.”

NEW!!!
1. Houses A, B, C and School are on a straight line. School is in the midway of A and B, B is in the midway of School and C. AB=4, 求C和Schoo距离=?

(1,1). K's Y-intercept is greater than L's Y-intercept?
2) L斜率 is negative.
选A ---- 做图,分两种情况: 1).if L's slope>0, then 0<K斜率<L斜率; 2). if L斜率<0, then K斜率<L斜率<0;

(1) only is not correct, but (2)only is correct.

A。IONLY
B。IIONLY
C。IIIONLY
D。I AND III
E。I AND II

k 7^k

(类似 x+Y =14, 求xy =?。(1) x^2+Y^2 =100 (2) x=8 )
选D

4. n is positive integer. 9^n = 100,000 * x. What is the value of x?

a) (sorry, can't remember)

b) 1/10 < x < 1

|n|+n/2>4 ===> x>8/3 or -8<x<0 ======> E

(II) sqrt[(x – 5)(x + 4)] < 11
选E

7. In a restaurant, 75% of the customers ordered dessert, what percent of the customers ordered coffee?

1) 93% of the customers who ordered dessert also ordered coffee

2) 80% of the customers who ordered coffee also ordered dessert

选C

一个是这样的:machine A can produce x products in 1 hour, machine B can produce x products in 3 hours. If machine A and B work together to produce x products, what is the ratio of the products that the faster machine produce?

11. 又想到一个条件概率题:a company has 255 employees. If one employee is randomly selected, is the probability that the employee is a woman and has a college degree less than 1/2?
a) 135 employees do not (原题就在not下划了道线) have colleage degree
b) 125 employees are man

选A

12. x, y, z are numbers on the number line. Is x < y < z ?
a) |y-x| + |y-z| = |z-x|
b) x<z

VERBAL

SC

1. 两道Just as A do B, So C do D.

2. 一道GMATPREP里的, Without ....and with.... , 某某estimate...dear...has grown up to 15,000.

B), the number of deer has grown up to 15,000. (Wrong)

XXXX(名字,是一个testimonial, ), like the testimonial of 某人, was ......that it was......

B). the testimonial was..........(WRONG)

一个motel吧, overall paid rental fee(without tax) and the number of people lived there remained the same from 1990 to 1996. Tax rate has remained the same from 1990 to 1996. However, motel from 1990 to 1996.

选 - motel from 1990 to 1996, motel 更多的tax on higher rental fees.

(B) residents in motel stayed longer from 1990 to 1996 (全文提到overall paid rental fee(without tax) 已经是不变的,remained the same from 1990 to 1996)

RC,

GWD-10-Q4 to GWD-10-Q6:

Prior to 1965 geologists assumed

that the two giant rock plates meeting at

the San Andreas Fault generate heat

Line through friction as they grind past each

(5) other, but in 1965 Henyey found that

temperatures in drill holes near the

fault were not as elevated as had

been expected. Some geologists

wondered whether the absence of

(10) friction-generated heat could be

explained by the kinds of rock composing

the fault. Geologists’ pre-1965

assumptions concerning heat generated

in the fault were based on

(15) calculations about common varieties of

rocks, such as limestone and granite;

but “weaker” materials, such as clays,

had already been identified in samples

retrieved from the fault zone. Under

(20) normal conditions, rocks composed of

clay produce far less friction than do

other rock types.

In 1992 Byerlee tested whether

these materials would produce friction

(25) 10 to 15 kilometers below the Earth’s

surface. Byerlee found that when clay

samples were subjected to the thousands

of atmospheres of pressure

they would encounter deep inside the

(30) Earth, they produced as much friction

as was produced by other rock types.

The harder rocks push against each

other, the hotter they become; in other

words, pressure itself, not only the

(35) rocks’ properties, affects frictional

heating. Geologists therefore wondered

whether the friction between the

plates was being reduced by pockets

of pressurized water within the fault that

push the plates away from each other.

GWD-10-Q4:

The passage suggests which of the following regarding Henyey’s findings about temperature in the San Andreas Fault?

A. Scientists have yet to formulate a definitive explanation for Henyey’s findings.

B. Recent research suggests that Henyey’s explanation for the findings should be modified.

C. Henyey’s findings had to be recalculated in light of Byerlee’s 1992 experiment.

D. Henyey’s findings provided support for an assumption long held by geologists.

E. Scientists have been unable to duplicate Henyey’s findings using more recent experimental methods.

Answer: (A)

GWD-10-Q5:

The passage is primarily concerned with

A. evaluating a method used to test a particular scientific hypothesis

B. discussing explanations for an unexpected scientific finding

C. examining the assumptions underlying a particular experiment

D. questioning the validity of a scientific finding

E. presenting evidence to support a recent scientific hypothesis

Answer: (B)

GWD-10-Q6:

The passage mostly agree that Heney’s findings about temperature in the San Andreas Fault made the greatest contribution in that they

(Note: This question main body is missing, but the answer choices are got completely. It is simulated by my memory and will closely resemble the original question main body.)

A. revealed an error in previous measurements of temperature in the San Andreas Fault zone

B. indicated the types of clay present in the rocks that form the San Andreas Fault

C. established the superiority of a particular technique for evaluating data concerning friction in the San Andreas Fault

D. suggested that geologists had inaccurately assumed that giant rock plates that meet at the San Andreas Fault generate heat through friction

E. confirmed geologists’ assumptions about the amount of friction generated by common varieties of rocks, such as limestone and granite

Thanks! Especially for corrrecting those mistakes in Math JJ! I have been confused by no. 5.

As for no.4, since in (b), 1/10 <X< 1, does it mean that X= 9/10?

Question:

11. a company has 255 employees. If one employee is randomly selected, is the probability that the employee is a woman and has a college degree less than 1/2?
a) 135 employees do not (原题就在not下划了道线) have colleage degree
b) 125 employees are man

Is it A? But (255-135)/255 < 1/2!
