On length of recommendation

A question on behalf on my recommender . He wants to have general idea on how long should a recommendation be. I requested him to put examples for situations rather than writing just platitude. Would it be ok if he writes a detailed one with good examples or should I advise him to be succint.

Please advise.

Does it include space allocated to grid also or just answers to questions which wharton has asked. Is it ok if I tell him to answers questions in 2-3 pages and attach personality grid to recommendation. Or it will also be too big for adcom to read.

I want to just give feedback to him once to help him save time on edits.
