23题我也选的D，因为第一段出现了once thought这一关键词，让人产生新老观点对比的思路。
后来仔细想想，D的问题出在 large brain of modern humans developed at a later stage of evolution than was previously believed，这句话主要强调大脑发育的时间比老观点预测的要晚。但文章是比较直立行走和大脑发育的时间先后。
同时，anatomical evidence是局部信息。文中只有在第二段的fossil部分提到骨头的结构，第一段和第三段则是通过其他研究的证据来判断 直立行走，大脑发育以及使用工具等的先后顺序。
所以，从主旨题的角度来说，还是选A比较好~
