一道数学prep题目 关于remainder的

if n is positive integer, r is remainder if (n-1)(n+1) is divided by 24, what is value of r
1) n is not divisible by 2
2) n is not divisible by 3

答案是c, both statements together sufficient, but neither statement alone is sufficient
这种题怎么解啊？
刚在论坛了搜索了下，有些相关的题，但是方法完全用不上

这个题是这样的，n不能被2整除，而且n是正数，说明n模2余1，n是奇数
n不能被3整除，说明余数是1，或者2，（先设余数是2，如果是1的话a是偶数，后面同理）又因为n不能被2整除，所以n=3a+2，其中a是个奇数
不妨设a=2x+1，
那么n=6x+5
n+1乘以n-1就等于(6x+6)*(6x+4)=12(x+1)(3x+2)，
分别讨论x是奇数跟偶数，就能发现后面两个因子必有一偶
所以能整除24，r=0

考场上这种题还是设个数进行验算，
比如n=9，n=11，r不确定，1）单独不成立
n=7，n=8，r不确定2）单独不成立
两个合起来，试下7，试下11，试下13，试下17，都成立，所以猜测c
