my questions on Darden application..

Anyone can advise what the recommended length of Darden essays (other than#1) should be?

Also, I have an on-campus intereview scheduled in about a month. Do you have any recommendations on how to prepare for this interview?

And one more....are second-year students required to define a specific 'speciality' or major (i.e. finance, corporate strategy, etc). I understand that second-year are allowed to choose between a number of electives but I'm not clear on whether their choice of electives must fit within a certain 'speciality' or certain career path

Darden has no word limit to its essays. The length depends on how much you want to say, and try to cut what is irrevelant. Also you shall consider the admission officer's hard work on reviewing so many essays.

As to the interview, you shall first collect classical Darden interview questions, and give your answers based on your essays and recommendations. If neccessary, find someone to mock interview. But remember, don't try to recite your answer, keep you as flexible as possible.

i think 400-600 is ok, since most schools' essay has such a word limit.

I would make the essay as long as I see it fit, I used about 1200 words on mine. It's important that the essay does not drag on with no purpose. Make sure you tell a good story, and use as many words as you need.

My feedback from Darden professor said that you don't have to pick a major at Darden.  However, he did suggest certain classes students should think about taking for certain careers, i.e. banking, consulting, GM, operations etc.
